Setting up Your Slack Account

  1. Receive an invite to your West + Main email account and sign in using that link

  2. Download the desktop app to your computer and to your smartphone - link

  3. Complete your profile with a photo and contact information

  4. Visit the Slack help center for any other questions you have - link

Slack Etiquette

  1. Be thoughtful of which channel you’re posting in! Utilize the guide above + ask staff if you have any questions

  2. Choose one channel to post in. There’s no need to post the same message in multiple channels.

  3. Use threads, always! When responding to a message in a channel, use the threads function so you are replying just to the person who posted, and not notifying everyone.

  4. Should it be a dm? If you’re speaking to one or two people, DM them instead of mentioning them in the channel.

  5. Search before posting. Looking for a vendor or agent referral recommendation? Try searching before posting to see if the same question has been asked recently.
