Open to the Public • Art • Food • Drinks • Great Conversation

2020 was a tough one for everyone, and we thought as soon as 2021 hit, we would all be waking up from a bad dream. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues… but it doesn’t have to lose all color! Which is why West and Main presents Art at the Market!

Come join us to have a quick to-go bite from Magasins (a local restaurant and small business owner), a beer from Prairie Artisan Ales (a local brewery), a chance to win a raffle by Prelude Coffee Roasters and Balance.Yoga.Barre, and best of all… beautiful art from local artists.

This month we will be hosting Jason Wilson whose art you just have to see in person!

About Jason Wilson

We give these artists a free space to display their unique pieces for the public to see. West and Main will give you direct contact to the artist, if you choose to purchase any pieces, and will not be taking any proceeds or commissions for any sales. This is our way to support our local artists, and bring color in a time that feels a little dark.

This will be an art walk style where you come in, view amazing art, grab some goodies and enjoy 8th Street Market for its amazing hybrid indoor/outdoor space for great conversation. We will require masks to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

Art at the Market will be hosted the first Friday of every month where we will display different local artists and always have yummy drinks, food and of course… beautiful art. We would love to see you!

About the Artist:

Jason Wilson

Forty years ago, a young boy watched his Native American grandmother design, assemble and sew his family’s quilts.  Today, contemporary Perceptual artist, Jason Wilson, influenced by his grandmother’s quilts, gives new life to old concepts.

To produce Perceptual Art, the artist must:  conceive; mathematically calculate; plot; draw; and finally paint his design on canvas.  Jason says his designs are about building the painting as much as painting the painting…involving hours of construction.  To this end, Wilson developed his own special acrylic paint formula to hand paint his canvas.  The result is a technically perfect, remarkably flawless finished canvas.

Perceptual Art asks its audience to visually or emotionally interact with the design.  Some Perceptual Art appears to shimmer and shift while other designs may, for example, provide a sense of serenity and grace.  By bringing his designs to life, Jason Wilson hopes to delight and inspire others.
