Open to the Public • Art • Food • Drinks • Great Conversation

2020 was a tough one for everyone, and we thought as soon as 2021 hit, we would all be waking up from a bad dream. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues… but it doesn’t have to lose all color! Which is why West and Main presents Art at the Market. Come join us to have a quick to-go bite from Magasins (a local restaurant and small business owner), a beer from Prairie Artisan Ales (a local brewery), a chance to win a raffle by Prelude Coffee Roasters, and best of all… beautiful art from local artists.

This month we will be hosting Teresa Groeneveld and Jacquelyn Musgrove whose art you just have to see in person. We give these artists a free space to display their unique pieces for the public to see. West and Main will give you direct contact to the artist, if you choose to purchase any pieces, and will not be taking any proceeds or commissions for any sales. This is our way to support our local artists, and bring color in a time that feels a little dark.

This will be an art walk style where you come in, view amazing art, grab some goodies and enjoy 8th Street Market for its amazing hybrid indoor/outdoor space for great conversation. We will require masks to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

Art at the Market will be hosted the first Friday of every month where we will display different local artists and always have yummy drinks from Prairie and mouth watering food from Magasins. We would love to see you!

About the Artists:

Teresa Groeneveld

Teresa is a proud Oklahoma daughter, mother and artist. Born in Almagordo New Mexico on Holloman Air Force Base, her only memories are of growing up in Oklahoma on Tinker Air Force Base. She ended up settling nearby in Midwest City, graduated from MWC Highschool, Home of the BOMBERS. Teresa has been married and divorced. As a single mom, she raised two beautiful humans and couldn’t be more proud of her daughter and son.

Teresa started exploring her artistic side in 2015 when she went through a domestic violence situation and becoming an empty nester, it provided an outlet for her and gave her the therapy she didn’t know she needed.

After discovering fluid art pouring in 2017, she was hooked on the technique. From canvas to functional to wearable art… the possibilities are unlimited. With the excess paint that runs off whatever she’s pouring on, is then use in her jewelry.

In 2019, Teresa entered her very first art contest at the Oklahoma State Fair with two fluid art pieces and her one and only watercolor. She was over the moon to bring home a first place, third place and a tenth place ribbon! Most recently in 2020, two of her pieces were exhibited in the virtual online gallery with the Bartlesville Art Association.

Teresa’s preferred medium are acrylics as most of her work is of mixed media and acrylic fluid art. She love working with fluid acrylics because each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. You can try to duplicate using the exact same colors and technique, but still come out different each time.

”Fluid art in particular has taught me a few things. First, is patience. Second is, it’s OK to let go of things I cannot control. And lastly, to appreciate the beauty in the imperfections. Life is messy and beautiful all in one. Embrace it. I hope you can see the beauty in my art .” - Teresa
