Meet Eric

Eric Weiland is a Colorado born and raised photographer whose passion for photography first arose when he was 14 years old on a trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park.  He then pursued photography in high school. During his senior year, he was named the winner of the Douglas County Art Show and awarded a $20,000 scholarship to The Art Institute. At 17, Eric launched his own business which focused on portraits, events and weddings, but landscapes were always his passion.

Taking a break from photography as a business endeavor, Eric launched a new business, focusing on his love of the natural world and astrophotography. After recovering from bilateral hip surgery this year, Eric plans to travel and capture landscapes in Iceland, Norway, Amsterdam, Glacier National Park and more.  A new found passion has been lit for him and the future is looking bright!

Under the Night Sky, is a collection of my nights out looking into our universe and capturing the sheer beauty of the night sky and our Milky Way Galaxy.  I have begun diving deeper into astrophotography and have learned a great amount. With these images, you will be able to see my progression as a photographer capturing our night sky.  I am in awe at the beauty of it and my parents both made me the lover of stars that I am. When I am out late at night and all alone, I feel more connected to them now that they are no longer earth side.  This passion brings a warm connection to them and ignites my soul to travel and continue to capture our incredible night sky around the world and share with you!”  ~ Eric Weiland

What are your thoughts about your city’s creative scene for artist, designers, crafters, makers and/or small businesses?

Denver’s creative scene is rich and diverse but also very difficult to break into.
