Denver Will Paint 'Black Lives Matter' on Broadway

Adri Norris will helm the project, which is sponsored by the city of Denver.

The city of Denver will allow artist Adri Norris to paint the words “Black Lives Matter” starting Thursday on Broadway between Colfax and 14th avenues.

Famed street artist Pat Milbery will chip in, and Denver creatives, particularly artists of color, are encouraged to take part in the painting process on Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This partnership between the city and the artists is being undertaken in the spirit of collaboration and alliance, creating a platform for voices of color, and building community voices against racial injustice,” the city said in a statement.

Traffic lanes along Broadway from 13th to 17th avenues will be closed from 6:30 Thursday until midnight Friday to allow for painting. The area will remain open to foot traffic for any demonstrators.
