The dream of ice castles started in a front yard in Utah for the neighborhood kids to enjoy. Brent Christiansen had moved from California - and needed something for his kids to do now they lived where it was cold and snowy. You can now find the ice castles in 4 other states and a Canadian Province.... but the mission remains the same "to create happiness, laughter, and unforgettable winter memories".

All the castles are made using real icicles - hundreds of thousands actually! Ice artists then put them together and add LED lights, thrones, fountains, tunnels and even slides! How much does the castle weigh? It is estimated to weigh over 20 million pounds!

I went up last year with two friends. Even as three grown women - we laughed and explored every corner!  We even stood in line to get our picture with Anna + Elsa - who laughed at us because they were not used to people older than them getting cozy for a photo opp.
