Meet Harry + Learn About Phase Change

PhaseChange - A pop-art landscape collection inspired by movement and transformation. Since moving to Colorado in 2020, the fleeting sense of each season has taught me to be present in ways I’ve never experienced before. I now have an entire new spectrum of understanding within me that has come from serene moments when lost in nature. There’s a touch of abstraction and hope for the unseen within each painting in this collection. I enjoy blurring the realm of what’s supposed to be & subtly hinting upon the dynamic forces that exist within and all around us.

Learn more about Harry in our Q+A!

How did your business come to exist?

Akyros Inc. came into existence on April 9th, 2016 because I was doing a poor job of being an “professional artist” when I was still in college. I had a screenprinting set up in my garage & was collecting too much profit on the side where it just made sense to make it official. What began as a creative outlet turned into a full-time career while constantly reassuring my Mom that I was still going to graduate.

What are you known for?

I’d say I’m most known for my shirt designs, large scale paintings, & ballpoint pen illustrations.

What are you working on right now?

3 branding projects, an NFT collection, an interactive wood-cut mural, & this lovely pop-art inspired painting collection.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?

“The only party that matters is the one that’s within 6 feet of you.”

What are your thoughts about your city's creative scene for artists, designers, crafters, makers, and/or small businesses?

Being a new resident in Denver, I see endless opportunity for myself & other creatives alike. I’ve been lucky enough to put myself out there in a new city & have been welcomed with open arms.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to hike, get into shenanigans with my buds, eat all the food, meet new people, & learn new things.

What was the best day at work you've had in the past three months?

Last week I hired my friend, Chris Mock, to assist me on some web + branding projects that I’m developing. I’m so thankful to have some help & work with someone that inspires me.

Do you like to win or hate to lose?

Hate to lose.

Who/What are your biggest influences?

Specifically for this collection, Roy Lichtenstein’s landscape studies.

What is your biggest challenge?

Not enough time in the day!

How did you arrive where you are today?

I’m here through the help of my family & my partner, Danielle Moore. I’d be dead or worse without them!

What is your dream project?

Design a limited edition NHL jersey or limited edition Converse shoes,

What is your favorite part of your job?

Seeing someone’s entire disposition shift after seeing art.

Where do you find inspiration?

Getting out in nature & moving my body.

If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?

Flying.. My favorite animal is the Peregrine Falcon & I daydream constantly about the idea of soaring through the sky 200+ mph.
